If your two-card hand is an identical pair (two 7s, for example), you are given the opportunity to match your original wager, split the two cards and then play as two separate hands. You would play each hand individually by hitting or standing.
Insurance Although Dealers and casinos encourage Insurance bets, we've been told over and over that it's not a financially rewarding bet. If the Dealer's face-up card is an Ace and his second card is still face down, you may place an Insurance bet, which is half of your original wager.
If the Dealer does not have a natural Blackjack, you lose your Insurance bet, and your hand is played out normally. If the Dealer has a natural Blackjack, you would lose your original wager, but win double the amount.
