bet nfl week 13

Best Bets - Week 13

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BEST BETS Archive Another 3-2 week that shoulda coulda woulda been so much more. Thank you Plax, Eli and Kiwi for f#@&ing me over with the biggest implosion in Giants history.

Nonetheless, let's roll with our loveable losers one more time, 5 underdogs, 4 at home, including the imploding New York Giants -- don't know if you've heard on the radio, but the Giants are so bad, the NFL is considering contraction of the franchise, forcing Eli back to college and relegating Plax to a Hoboken Flag Football League

Another Thursday night game, phooey...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TENNESSEE (+ 7 1/2 v. IND)
The Titans have been a cover machine. 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games, 4-1 ATS as a home 'dog or against teams with a winning record, take your pick. The Colts have been solid as well, but not so much when you look at following a big win at home, traveling to face a division opponent, etc. Vince Young looking Rose Bowl-esque in the 4th quarter last week doesn't hurt the chances for a late cover, but who wouldn't enjoy a late season Colts loss?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GREEN BAY (+1 1/2 v. NYJ)
The recent trends don't really support this pick. The Jets are bordering on hot, playoff contenders and the Packers couldn't manage 4 quarters in Seattle. But December on the frozen tundra, getting points, with Favre's skill positions relatively healthy and the Packers front seven on defense showing some playmaking last week gives me enough confidence that a win here, outright, is far from a stretch.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BUFFALO (+ 6 v. SD)
Sure I'm hoping for zero degrees and 3 feet of snow...the game's in Buffalo, right? And if you hadn't heard, the Chargers, excuse me, the Super Chargers, are now the top power-ranked team in the Not For Long league and Philip Rivers has his tickets to Honolulu in hand, awaiting a call from Canton for bust measurements. You go Willis, run run run...render all that blather moot, just like it was for the Colts going undefeated, just like it was for the Broncos not yielding touchdowns at home, the Giants being the best, the Bears... You get the picture. TD at home and a cover will suffice.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NEW YORK GIANTS (+4 @ DAL)
If Coughlin can get his ridiculously-talented offense on track, reeling in Eli's accuracy, perhaps opting for pounding the rock, to set up play-action deep to Plax or getting Shockey involved a lot more, then he's not worthy of the paycheck. Fortunately for this pick, as it applies to these sorts of games, he's done just that. So with a home game, potential sweep of the Cowboys...this amounting to the division on the line, I look for a Giants win, it's their playoffs and all the talk this week looks so so silly.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- JACKSONVILLE (+ 2 @ MIA)
Memo to Vegas: It was the Lions...the Detroit Lions. Sure Harrington looked better on Ford Field than ever before, but c'mon. Ronnie Brown is out, not that it'd matter. Sure the Phins are hot, 4-0 ATS in the last month, but this if the Not For Long. I'm not sure if Del Rio will be wearing his suit on the sidelines in Miami, but his defensive front will be on the field and Joey Harrington + pressure equals Joey Harrington...throw in that Jacksonville has enough in their ground game to take that Miami D head on, and it's a very tough match-up for the Phins and laying points at all is a very tall order.

SEASON RECORD ATS: 31-26-3
