The Buffalo Bills are cited by Gambling911.com as a value play," commented Christopher Costigan, founder and president of Gambling911.com. "We see this team as having the potential to surprise in their respective division, and with payout odds set at +700 early on, there is an opportunity to win some good money."
A $100 bet pays $700 on the Buffalo Bills.
The long shot of the AFC East with its massive payout odds is the Miami Dolphins, listed at BestLine Sports with payout odds of +1100. For every $100 wagered, this one pays out just over $1000. It is the type of future bet to have a little fun with if you can spare to lose some dough.
The AFC North has what many believe to be two powerhouses in Baltimore and Pittsburgh. Johnny Magnum and the Boys at BestLine Sports list the Ravens as a very small -125 favorite and the Steelers as a near even +120 dog. The AFC North will wreak havoc with nearly everyone's 2005 NFL season predictions. To make matters worse, BestLine Sports features the Bengals with +320 payout odds to win their respective division, surprising considering the two dominant teams here.
"Gambling911.com doesn't necessarily feel that Cleveland will win this division, however, we do feel that they will win more than the 4 1/2 regular season games that BestLine Sports has them winning," Costigan said.
Cleveland is listed with +1500 odds to win the AFC North as an fyi.
Not surprisingly in the AFC South, BestLine Sports like most of their colleagues in the online sports betting industry - as well as Vegas for that matter - have pinpointed Indianapolis as the team to beat this year. Most have them going to the Super Bowl. In order to win $100, one would have to lay $400. Is it worth the heavy risk? Jaguars pay out +350, Texans, +800, Titans, +850.
There are no clear cut favorites in the AFC West, so arriving at 2005 NFL season predictions in this division amounts to either a crap shoot or some heavy duty studying.
"Here you have a division where we don't really know if San Diego was a fluke last season. Denver has played subpar all the time since Elway retired. Oakland has some talented but questionable characters on their roster so we don't really know what to expect. And the Chiefs simply underperformed last season, so what is to stop this from happening again in 2005?"
Needless-to-say, BestLine Sports lists each of these four teams at +200 and a little bit of change.
The NFC East would normally be among the easiest divisions to predict if not for all the distractions in Philadephia's locker room. Parcells might finally have the team he has been searching for all along in Dallas, with the word "might" being the operative word here. Because even with the Eagles preseason turmoil, they are probably still a better team than any other in this division, including Dallas.
Philadelphia is listed with -450 odds. Dallas is +450; Giants are +775 and the Redskins are also posted at +775.
The NFC North could prove interesting even though many experts have Minnesota as the 2005/2006 team to beat in this conference. They are listed with near even odds (terrific value in fact) while both Green Bay and Detroit have odds of +300.The Bears look to be in trouble early on, though BestLineSports.com has them posted with +600 odds to win their respective division.
Interesting situation in the NFC South with both Atlanta and Carolina virtually neck and neck with +115 and +175 odds, respectively.
"Gambling911.com, like a lot of the experts, feels that the Atlanta Falcons provide some great value at those impressive odds," Costigan stated.
The Saints have such a poor history, it is actually surprising to see them posted with a mere +350 to win this division. Can you imagine having New Orleans to win their division with $100 and only walking away with $350? Something doesn't seem right there. Tampa could perform well, though Gambling911 feels it will take another season for the Buccaneers to excel once again. They are listed with +450 odds.
And finally, the NFC West is anybody's guess. 2005 NFL season predictions must take into account whether the Cardinals will finally develop into something semi-significant at +220 odds (and past history tends to make this a hard pill to swallow); whether St. Louis can show some consistency with +200 odds; whether the Seahawks will do something spectacular (another hard pill to swallow at +100 odds) and whether a miracle will somehow happen in San Francisco. If you believe in miracles, put $100 down on the 49'ers. They pay out 3500 to 1 or $350,000 on a $100 bet. Otherwise, it's a crap shoot between Arizona, Seattle and St. Louis.
