To place a bet you must first choose “Horses”. Then, select the track by clicking on the name of the track. Once the track is selected, you should choose the race you would wish to bet on. Next, a listing of the horses, jockeys and current odds will appear. In the box marked “Amount” please enter the amount you would like to bet, do not use decimals or the $ sign. Next, choose the type of bet you would like, (i.e. WIN/PLACE/SHOW, EXACTA, QUINELLA, etc…) Win is First place, Place is Second place and Show is Third Place. For example, if you wanted to bet $10 "across the board" (Win, Place and Show) on the 7 horse, you would enter 10 in the Amount Box, and then check the WIN, PLACE, and SHOW boxes below the 7 horse. Then you would click on “Build ticket”. You should then see the confirmation page, giving you a description of your bet and the total amount risked. You can choose to CONFIRM or CLOSE. If you want to cancel your wager, click on CLOSE. If you would like to submit your wager, simply click on COMFIRM. Exotic Wagers Making an exotic wager is just like placing a straight wager except you will be selecting multiple horses. Simply put a dollar amount in the “Amount” box, then click on the desired wager. Next, choose the number that corresponds with the horse you would like to select. The following is a list of exotic wagers we offer, depending on the track: Quinella bet: Choose 2 horses to come in first and/or second. If your 2 horses come in 1 st and 2 nd, your bet is a winner. Exacta / Perfecta bet: Choose 1 horse to come in 1 st and one horse to come in 2 nd. If your horses come in exactly in that order, your bet is a winner. Trifecta bet: Choose 3 horses to come in 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. If your horses come in exactly in that order, your bet is a winner. Superfecta bets: Choose 4 horses to come in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place. If your horses come in exactly in that order, your bet is a winner. Daily Double bet: Choose 2 horses from consecutive races to come in 1st place in each race, respectively. Your horses must win each race for your bet to be a winner. Pick 3 bet: Choose 3 horses from consecutive races to come in 1st place in each race, respectively. Your horses must win each race for your bet to be a winner. Boxing horse bets: With most exotic wagers you may also “box” the horses. This means they can come in any order. For example, if you bet a $2 Trifecta Box on horses 1-3-7, you win if the 1, 3 and 7 horse all finish in the top three, regardless of their order. Using the above example, if 7-3-1 finish first, second and third, you win! You can “box” a wager, simply by picking the box bet of your choice. By boxing a wager you are essentially buying a ticket for all the different combinations for the horses you selected. So, in the above example the total wager cost would be $12, because there are 6 possible combinations. Coupled pairsSometimes horses are coupled. That is there will be a 1 and a 1A. Most times one of the horses will be scratched, but if they both run, you get them both. So, if you select a horse that is part of a coupled pair (horses 1 and 1A) both horses would be considered as one selection. For example, if you played 1-3-7 as your trifecta and result was 1A-3-7, you win. Also, if one horse gets scratched, you have the other horse regardless of who you selected. If you select 1A and 1A gets scratched, your bet will still stand on the 1 horse. ResultsAs race times may change throughout the day, Management reserves the right to cancel any ticket made at/or after the track's actual posted time. It will be deemed as "No Action" and your money will be returned. For this reason, our race programs have a 10 minute earlier post time than the actual race. PayoutsPayouts will be made based on the actual track payout. The Morning Line (ML) listed in the race program is just informational and is not used to calculate the payouts. Your account will reflect any payouts once the race is graded. horse racing betting rules
All bets are governed by Tattersalls Rules of Betting. These rules will govern the settlement of bets if anything occurs that is not covered by our stated rules. Bets are settled in accordance with the official result at the time of the "weigh in". Any change to a result after this point will not count. Any bets other than Ante Post will be void if the race is abandoned or declared void. If the race is postponed to a future day and the Overnight Declarations stand, all bets will stand providing the venue is not changed. If this is the case all bets will be void. In the event of a false start etc resulting in a race being re-run, the race is not considered to be 'under starters orders¹ and stakes will be refunded on selections not taking part in the re-run with any returns on the remaining subject to Tattersalls Rule 4(c). The number of runners taking part in the re-run governs the Place terms. Walkovers and void races count as races but any selection involved will be treated as a non-runner. First Past the Post is only applicable to horse racing in Ireland and the U.K., unless otherwise advertised. First Past the Post means if your horse is "First Past The Post" you get paid. Should your horse be awarded the race or promoted to a place, as a result of a Stewards Enquiry or Objection which is announced before the "weigh in" or "winner alright", Skybet will still pay you. First Past the Post does not apply to the following bets or circumstances:- All Ante post bets. Forecasts and Tricasts. Bets which rely on Tote Dividends i.e. Jackpots, Placepots etc which are settled Rules of Racing. Horse "Match betting", "Distance Specials" or "Betting Without" races which are settled as to the respective conditions detailed in these rules. Any Selection disqualified for taking the wrong course or for carrying an incorrect weight. Races which are declared void. Where there is an official correction to the result by the judge or SIS prior to the "weigh in" and any races which are declared void before the "weigh in" for which Rules of Racing will apply. All bets on horse racing outside of Ireland and the U.K. are settled on a rules of racing basis only. For Horse and Greyhound Racing, the place part of Each-Way bets will be settled at the following Place terms: Non-Handicap Races 2 4 Runners Win Only 5 7 Runners 1/4 the Odds 1, 2 8 or more Runners 1/5 the Odds 1, 2, 3 Handicap Races 2 4 Runners Win Only 5 7 Runners 1/4 the Odds 1, 2 8 - 11 Runners 1/5 the Odds 1, 2, 3 12 15 Runners 1/4 the Odds 1, 2, 3 16 or more Runners 1/4 the Odds 1, 2, 3, 4 EACH-WAY BETS are governed by our S.P. place betting terms and determined by the number of horses coming 'under starter"s orders¹ and not by the number of declared runners when the price was taken. Ante Post betting will cease at the Overnight Declaration stage, and all bets after this stage will be "Non-runner no bet" and Tattersalls¹ Rule 4(c) will apply. If a horse is withdrawn not coming under starters¹ orders, or is officially deemed by the starter not to have taken part in the race, stakes on that horse will be refunded and winning bets will be subject to deductions in accordance with Tattersalls Rule 4 (c).
