march madness bracket CONTESTS
March is here, and the madness is about to begin. March Madness and brackets go together like peanut butter and jelly, and we have you covered on both with great contests. If you're participating in our $1,000,000 bracket, $10,000 Sweet 16 or $10,000 Elite 8 contests, now's the time to prepare.
There are many ways to complete your bracket, but using logical techniques will greatly enhance your odds on winning. First round games are interesting and there are always upsets. It's tempting to take the highest seeded teams in the early rounds, as they're usually favored by big numbers and point spreads don't play a factor in bracketology, but don't be fooled.
When filling out your bracket, be sure to follow the odds and let that be an indicator as to who's supposed to win according to oddsmakers. If a No. 1 seeded team is favored by 20 points or more over a much lower seed, it's a pretty safe bet the big favorite will win the game to advance. But keep in mind: there are upsets yearly, and that's a fact.
Knowing when to select the underdogs is key to a winning bracket. Again, follow the odds, because oddsmakers are sharp and more times than not they're correct. Use games with lines of ten points or less to select your underdogs. These games usually feature the middle-seeded teams. There is a much greater chance that a team favored by ten points or less will get upset vs. a team favored by 20 or more.
Doing your homework before completing a bracket will pay off. Use the mega amount of gaming information from around the net that is right at your finger tips. Research how teams fare in the NCAA tournament in recent history. Some teams thrive at the big dance while others don't do well at all. IE - Did you know the Kansas Jayhawks have been eliminated from the tournament in the first round the last two seasons?
Use ATS (against the spread) stats as a guide when selecting your teams. Again, point spreads are not factored in on brackets, but if a specific team is strong at covering as a favorite, then obviously they're just as strong or stronger at winning straight up. Keep this in mind for the underdogs as well.
If you already have your mind made up about who's going to win it all, then try filling out your bracket in reverse order. Pencil in your champion and complete bracket working backwards until all rounds have been completed. This works well for some.
Last year, the Florida Gators were bracket kings as NCAA champions, but this year they're likely to not repeat due to their sporadic play displayed this season. Many will have them in the final four, but be careful. Another team a lot of people will be selecting to go far is the Ohio State Buckeyes. But be aware of them as well, because they are babies, and young teams don't traditionally do well in the big dance.
For those looking for a sleeper, try the Memphis Tigers. They own the nation's longest winning streak at 18 entering the tournament, and they deserve respect.
However you select teams to complete your bracket, simply use common sense and, with a little luck, you'll be counting money. It's the biggest tournament in all of sports, so grab your pencils, fill out your brackets and enjoy the ride down the road to the final four with BetUS.com.
